Ondo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Ismaila Olurimisi has reiterated the need for students to imbibe the culture of speaking local languages to bring about all round development of human mind and sustainable growth.
Ismaila Olurimisi who made this known at the grand-finale of 2017 schools arts and cultural competition held in Akure said the ministry will partner the ministry of education to embark on training programmes at cultural organizations for students.
The commissioner said the home should be at the fore-front of cultural promotion and transmission and as such appealed to parents to work hand in glove with schools and government in making cultural independence a reality.
The cultural competition include drama, artwork and exhibition, traditional music and dance, fashion parade, Ewi and Yoruba essay writing.
At the end of the contest, St Louis grammar school Akure emerged winner just as St Louis grammar school Owo emerged second position and the 3rd position went to Mount Camel Grammar school Ikare Akoko.
