The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress is set to witness another round of crisis as the senator representing the Ondo North Senatorial District , Ajayi Boroffice , on Monday alleged that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had been using his office to destabilise the party.
He also alleged that the governor did not want the leadership crisis rocking the party to be resolved in spite of the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party throughout the federation.
In a statement issued by the Media Assistant to the senator , Mr . Kayode Fakuyi , the federal lawmaker also alleged that the governor had turned the state chapter of the party to his personal property .
Boroffice explained that he wished to work with Akeredolu but the latter had never extended any invitation to him for any state event or party meeting .
He said , “The national leadership of our great party cannot forget in a hurry the road we had to travel to reach where we are ; it is our collective will and unity of purpose that have taken us this far . To destroy the legacy is to destroy the great bond that binds us together as members of the APC.
“It is for this reason that His Excellency , President Muhammadu Buhari has called for reconciliation of leaders and resolutions of disputed issues . This is the wise road to travel and we cannot dissent . Therefore , Senator Boroffice wishes to express full confidence in the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu – led presidential committee . We fully support our National Leader , Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on this course .”
However , in his reaction , the Commissioner for Information , Mr . Yemi Olowolabi , said Boroffice ’s allegation was frivolous, spurious and unfounded , saying Akeredolu had extended the hand of fellowship to all aggrieved members and leaders of the party.
He said , “ I don ’t know what Senator Boroffice is talking about because the governor has extended hand of fellowship to all members and leaders of the party. That is why you saw Chief Olusola Oke coming back to the party. It is also evident that the Ondo APC is at peace . “
Similarly , the Acting Chairman of the party, Mr . Ade Adetimehin , said Akeredolu had changed the face of the party for better than how it was before he became the governor .
He said it was Boroffice that had been going against the reconciliation moves .
Adetimehin said , “Today , I am the chairman of the party and there is no division in the party. Akeredolu does not interfere in how the party is being run . He faces his administration , to say he is polarising the party is a lie . ”
